These are the list of places our class has visited during the semester.  Each location is chosen by a different student and our professor.

LDS Genealogy Library

I am not one who has hobbies but the hobby of genealogy seems very interesting to me.  I didn't know this place was available to the public.  I always knew of people who did this type of activity but I didn't know there were actual places that held records.  I thought people just talked to the oldest people in their families and if they couldn't remember something then it was gone.  The church was beautiful and everyone was extremely nice.

La Michoacana

I thought the place only served ice cream but was I wrong.  This business was very bright and vibrant.  It was such a nice place to be thanks to Elda.  They had all kinds of foods that were unfamiliar to me.  As the chicken I am I did not try the foods but some of them looked very tasty.  I was glad our class met here because I would have never known this place was open.

Navajo Prepatory School

I found this school to be amazing.  The school has its own campus and dorms it was pretty interesting.  The students have a full course load and must work hard but I think they benefit hugely from this experience.  The campus reminded me of a college campus.  I enjoyed my experience and wish there were more schools like this for all students.

E3 Museum

The museum was having a dinosaur exhibit and all the children seemed to be having a ball.  I was a bit disappointed because I thought the museum was going to be more than what it was.  I think they could have so much more but anything is better than nothing.   I wish I would have had more time to explore but it was still very neat.

Aztec Library

We went to the Aztec Library and learned about all their technology.  They have computers and game systems.  They offer classes that educated kids about how to make their own games on the computers.  I was really suprised to find the game systems in the library.  When I think of a library I think of books.  I liked how the children's section was very kid oriented.  I was glad to see that they were trying to make reading enjoyable for children.  I think the library has a lot of activities available for all age groups of people.

Cold Stone Creamery

Today was Ami's Birthday so we met here.  They have the best ice cream ever if you ask me.  The location was not as important as what we accomplished with our class time today.  We spent class reflecting on our Apache visits and then discussing what needs to be done by next class time.  We have finally started presenting our chapters.  This filled up our whole time and we will continue next week.

Riverside Nature Center

I really enjoy going to the Nature Center every time I go.  You never know what kind of animals you might come across.  It reminds me of home being back in the wooded area.  It is one of the only places around here that can remind me of home.  The Center invites all to come and explore whether it be on your own or on a field trip.  It is such a calm and relaxing place if you need a place to be on a Saturday afternoon.

ENLACE

ENLACE was an interesting experience for me.  It is in the same office building that I use to work when I first moved out here.  It was interesting to see what they have done with the building and how they used the space.  For those who are like me and do not know what ENLACE stand for it means Engaging Latino Communities for Education.  Their main focus is on Latino families with any needs really.  They offer many classes that include GED classes.  They don't only help Latinos but all people of the community are encouraged to check it out and see if there is a place for ENLACE in their schedules.  They offer a variety of classes and encourage and support everyone to go to college and help them find a way there.

Sycamore Park Community Center

I again have never been to this building and was glad to be a guest in their facility.  I have not even been to this side of the town more than a few times.  I'm glad to see there is a positive place where children can go. The center offered two rooms, a kitchen, computers, a gym, and a game room.  These are the main things they offer on a daily basis.  The Center also offers activities for families to take part in such as candle dipping, soap making, and a father daughter dance.  These are a few activities but they are looking forward to having many more.  This is an excellent place for children to spend their time after school or even on the weekends.

Farmington Indian Center

This was the first time I have been to the Indian Center.  The center serves food, provided showers, rented out their building for events, and much more.  Mr. Smiley was our speaker and he was mostly in charge of overlooking the center.  He seemed proud of the facility and the activities they provide for the community.  I was excited to hear that he had gone to college and that the Center provided applications for financial aid.  I think he is a great role model to be in charge and many kids and even adults can look up to him for help if they so choose.
